Principal Power Systems Consultant

Luke works on a range of areas including technical and regulatory support around the grid. His focus is on leading the development of our curtailment simulation pipeline for flexible grid connections. He has led and delivered many curtailment assessments for Transmission and Distribution connections. These have involved a range of schemes including Accelerating Energy Storage Connections, Distribution and Transmission Active Network Management, Technical Limits, Load Management Schemes, and intertrips. He has provided technical support to Ofgem, around Transmission asset lifespans, as part of their RIIO-3 Sector Specific Methodology Decision. He has also provided regulatory support to offshore wind developers around ongoing reforms and changes to the CUSC.

Prior to joining Blake Clough, he completed a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States and a BSc in Theoretical Physics at University College London. At the University of Illinois, his research focused on data analysis and modelling of electronic transport in solid-state materials including metals, semiconductors, and high-temperature superconductors. He also taught throughout his time at the University of Illinois, leading and managing tutorials for hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Outside of work Luke enjoys hiking and climbing.
