At National Gas, we believe that a responsible business is a resilient business. Our ESG framework - Environmental, Social and Governance - guides how we operate, how we support our people and communities, and how we build a sustainable future for Britain.
As a new Early Careers joiner to our business, you’ll be entitled to two paid volunteering days per year for you to use towards volunteering for a good cause.
The Community Grant Fund (CGF) is a scheme run by National Gas that helps us give back to the communities in and around where we operate. As a national business dealing with large-scale infrastructure, we know that having us as a neighbour can sometimes present some challenges, whether through noise, traffic, or visual appeal.
Benevity is a world-leading provider of social impact software solutions. We use Benevity to host our “National Gas Gives Back” programme: a package of opportunities and activities that employees can partake in to give back to the causes that they care the most about, whether through volunteering time or financial donations.

Our donations go beyond money and time; our people organise and run multiple donation drives each year for Barnardo’s targeting key periods of high need such as our Tree of Joy campaign over Christmas, our Easter Egg Donation Station, and our Back to School programme.
Last year, we donated over £1,000 of new school uniforms to children in need across the West Midlands area, over 365 Easter eggs against a 250 target, and countless goods ranging from socks to stairgates for families living in poverty.
Our people have been getting stuck in to volunteering – whether as a team or on their own – up and down the country. Ranging from building sanctuary sheds for Andy’s Man Club – a charity offering mental health support to men, to asbestos clear out at a local village hall to make is safe again, the work we’ve been doing has been wide-ranging in it’s impact.
As part of our charity partnership with Barnardo’s we also have lots of opportunities to support them in the work they do – revamping children’s centres with bright murals and herb gardens, and refreshing emergency accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence. There’s a huge amount of good work we can do in our local community, and National Gas encourages our people in getting out there and doing it!
