What you'll be doing:

Join Müller’s Research & Development (R&D) team for a 13-month placement where you’ll help shape the future of our products — from concept to supermarket shelf.

Based across our sites in Shropshire, this is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in food development, laboratory testing, and manufacturing trials. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to exciting projects, and see your ideas come to life in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Key tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Recipe Development: Apply your knowledge of yogurt and dessert manufacturing to help develop innovative new recipes.
  • Lab Testing & Trials: Support lab testing and take part in manufacturing trials, using sensory evaluation techniques to assess product quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the business, gaining exposure to multiple departments and disciplines.
  • Artwork Checking: Assist with reviewing product artwork, following training in food law and labelling regulations.
  • Concept to Launch: Contribute to every stage of the product development journey — from initial ideas to full-scale product launches.
  • Innovation Participation: Bring your creativity to the table and actively contribute to future product ideas and improvements.
  • Work Across Environments: Gain experience across three different sites, including development kitchens, labs, and factory settings.
  • Collaborative Group Projects: Work with other placement students on a group project, building teamwork and problem-solving skills.

We’re excited to hear from university students who are curious, creative, and passionate about food and product development. If you’re on track to achieve a 2:1 or above and looking for a placement year full of learning, collaboration, and innovation — we’d love to hear from you.
