I chose to go down the apprenticeship route as I was confident it would help me learn valuable skills that would enable me to perform better in the working environment and pursue my chosen career. I applied for and was successful in being offered a Project Controls Apprenticeship with the company.
Ever since I joined, I’ve been made to feel so welcome and there’s support all around me. Initially, I was shy to speak up but everyone has made me feel very welcome, so I’m able to ask for help and get valuable advice from colleagues.
Quite quickly after joining, I was given the chance to look after two projects to make sure everything was updated every month. It was very interesting and not something I had done before, so it was good to learn some new skills and I’m continuing to learn new things every day.
My advice would be to consider apprenticeships in STEAM because there are so many highly skilled jobs available in a variety of sectors.
