A82 – Tarbet to Inveraran

The £3.4M ground investigation for the A82 upgrade had to contend with steeper slopes, deeper bogs and narrower access than many other projects of this scale. Whilst it was one of the largest and most challenging ground investigations undertaken by Soil Engineering in Scotland, it was also one of the most varied with a wide range of both geophyscial and intrusive techniques required.

Ewe Hill 16 Windfarm, Lockerbie

Soil Engineering were appointed to undertake a ground investigation for the proposed sixteen turbine windfarm located at Ewe Hill, to the east of Lockerbie, Dumfries & Galloway. The investigation required an assessment of the nature and composition of the ground at each proposed wind turbine position.

A720 Sheriffhall Roundabout Improvement

Soil Engineering undertook the Ground Investigation works at the A720 Sheriffhall Roundabout, as part of the project to replace the existing at-grade roundabout with a grade separated interchange.

Silvertown Tunnel

Soil Engineering were instructed to carry out a ground investigation at various locations from Silvertown to the Greenwich Peninsula which the existing Blackwall Tunnel Approach and areas around the Emirates Air Terminal.

M20 J3 – J5 Smart Motorway Programme

The aim of this ground investigation was to provide an assessment of the ground conditions for the design of earthworks widening and foundations for the new gantries, signs and other additional infrastructure.
