Hinkley Point C is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, set to generate 3.2GW of clean energy, enough to power six million homes for 60 years and supply around 7% of the nation’s electricity. Brooke Air was selected to design and supply bespoke HVAC grille solutions, supporting the project’s demanding technical and quality requirements.
The project demanded nuclear-grade HVAC solutions that could withstand stringent safety requirements, including seismic resilience, full traceability of materials, and rigorous factory audits. Deliverables spanned approximately 6,000 grilles in varying sizes, finishes, and material grades, all tailored to meet the exacting standards of a nuclear power facility.
Brooke Air worked in close collaboration with Axima Nucléaire to develop, test, and manufacture bespoke grille solutions. Samples were produced in stainless steel (304 and 316 low-carbon) and anodised aluminium, supported by comprehensive data plates for traceability. A 1200mm x 800mm grille underwent and passed seismic testing at Sopema in France. Following a successful factory audit in April 2023, Brooke Air secured a framework agreement, positioning us as a trusted long-term partner.
Our contribution has helped propel the UK’s transition toward a low-carbon energy future, reinforcing Brooke Air’s expertise in complex, high-specification infrastructure projects. On the strength of this achievement, Brooke Air has been selected to supply Sizewell C, an equally challenging and technically exacting venture.
