About Us

As the democratically elected House of the UK Parliament, the House of Commons is responsible for making laws and scrutinising the work of the Government, working alongside the House of Lords.

The House of Commons - We make Parliament happen
More than 3,000 people work with us to deliver excellent services to the UK Parliament.

From shaping the future to making history, extraordinary things happen here. By delivering our purpose and living our values, everybody in the House Administration plays their part.

From security to surveyors, chefs to clerks, media to maintenance – and more – we all support the work of the Chamber and its committees and provide excellent services to Members. It’s the essence of why we are all here and what makes our work in the House of Commons unique.

Our Values

Our values guide everything we do, including every decision we make, how we behave, and how well we perform. We want everyone who works here to have ownership of these qualities and help bring them to life. That’s how we’re building a culture where we all benefit. And it’s how we make Parliament happen as a team.

  • Inclusive - We value everyone equally. We respect each other and all have a voice.
  • Trusted - We trust each other to do a good job. We’re impartial and build confidence in Parliament through our integrity.
  • Courageous - We try new things. We own our actions and decisions and learn from our mistakes.
  • Collaborative - We share our knowledge and experience. We work towards a shared vision and know we work better in partnership.
