Graduate Engineer - Systems Engineering

Electronics, Systems, Software, Computer Science, Physics, Maths, Hardware.

Job Overview

We are looking for Graduate Systems Engineers to join our Systems Engineering teams in Bristol. You'll help develop and verify key hardware technologies that support memory management, communication and AI processing within next-generation Arm-based SoCs.

About the Team

Emerging Talent at Arm: What It’s Like to Work Here
Hear from engineers, graduates and leaders share their experiences working at Arm and building the technology that powers billions of devices around the world.

Our Systems Engineering teams develop technologies that enable complex computing systems to manage data, memory and communication efficiently. Engineers work across memory and interconnect technologies, System Memory Management Units (SMMUs) and AI Subsystems, contributing to the hardware that connects and supports different components within an SoC. You'll collaborate with specialists in hardware design, verification, architecture and performance analysis.

What you could be doing as a Graduate Systems Engineer:

  • Contributing to the design and verification of system-level hardware, including memory management technologies, interconnect components and AI Subsystems.
  • Developing simulations, tests and verification environments to validate hardware functionality, data movement and system behaviour!
  • Investigating system-level issues and collaborating with design, verification and architecture engineers to improve functionality, performance and reliability.

We are looking for individuals who:

Hold, or be on track to complete by the programme start date, a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related technical subject. Other degree backgrounds with relevant technical experience are also welcome.

Qualities that will help your application stand out

Whilst we will support and develop you throughout the graduate programme, it will help if you bring:

  • An interest in digital hardware and computer architecture, including an understanding of digital logic, RTL design or hardware verification!
  • Knowledge of memory systems, memory management, cache coherency, interconnect technologies or AI/ML compute concepts.
  • Experience with programming, scripting or hardware description languages such as Python, C, C++, SystemVerilog, Verilog or VHDL.

Relevant experience can come from university coursework, practical projects, internships or independent learning. You do not need to meet every desirable criterion to apply.

In Return

In addition to a competitive salary and comprehensive rewards package, you'll receive the support, autonomy and opportunities to develop your career at Arm.

You'll take part in regular performance and development reviews, graduate development activities, technical learning sessions and opportunities to connect with engineers across the business. You can also join our 'Grad-teach-Grads' workshops, guest speaker sessions and graduate community activities.

You'll also be invited to our Global Graduate Conference (GGC), bringing together graduates, technical specialists and leaders from across Arm.

Many of Arm's technical experts and leaders started their careers as graduates. Will you be next?

Start Date:

We are looking for a graduate to join our Bristol team as soon as possible, with the start date agreed based on candidate availability. Please note that relocation support is available for this role for domestic moves within the country. Visa sponsorship support is also available for candidates who require it.

To note, by sending us the requested information, you consent to its use by Arm to arrange for appropriate accommodations. All accommodation or adjustment requests will be treated with confidentiality, and information concerning these requests will only be disclosed as necessary to provide the accommodation.

Although this is not an exhaustive list, examples of support include breaks between interviews, having documents read aloud, or office accessibility. Please email us about anything we can do to accommodate you during the recruitment process.

Hybrid Working

Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs.

Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)

Can I use AI to apply?

At Arm, we embrace the benefits AI can bring, including in recruitment. You may use AI to support your preparation, such as improving the clarity of written responses, practicing interview questions, or learning more about our industry. However, your application and interview responses must reflect your own thinking, experience, and abilities. We want to understand your authentic perspective, creativity, and approach to problem solving. As such, you may not use AI to complete assigned tasks as part of any assessments.
