Carla speaks to Rachel (Recruiting Specialist) about the Accenture application process and she provides some hints and tips for when applying.

Life as a Technology Apprentice

As a Technology Apprentice, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation using both current and emerging technologies to help shape what’s next. You’ll design and deliver custom-built solutions and play a hands-on role in every phase of development: from concept and coding to testing and deployment.

You won’t be limited to one path. You’ll explore a wide range of roles across applications, cloud, infrastructure, AI & Data, DevOps, modern engineering, technology architecture, quality assurance, and software engineering. With every project, you'll work in different industries, tackle new challenges, and broaden your technical expertise while discovering where your strengths and interests lie.

Where you’ll work

Accenture values collaboration, bringing people together at least three times a week at client sites or one of our UK offices. You will be required to be in your assigned office for a minimum of three days per week and must live within commuting distance to make this possible. Project work may also take you to client sites across the UK, sometimes more than three days a week, depending on business needs.

What you’ll need

To join our Technology Degree Apprenticeship, you’ll need:

  • 112 UCAS points or equivalent level 3 qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE passes, including Maths and English at grades 9-4 (A-C)

It doesn’t matter what subjects you’ve studied or whether you have followed a traditional technology pathway. What matters most is that you have a genuine passion for technology and your ability to demonstrate this through your studies, personal projects, extracurriculars, or work experience. Curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are vital. An interest in Modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Data & Analytics and Digital Transformation is beneficial. Programming experience is helpful, but not essential as we’ll support you in building these skills along the way.

Apprentices who thrive in our programme often share some key qualities:

  • A strong desire to learn and grow their tech and commercial skills
  • The ability to adapt quickly and stay resilient in fast-paced environments
  • Confident communication, strong teamwork, and fresh perspectives
  • A curiosity about AI-assisted coding tools and an interest in how they’re changing the way software gets built
  • Strong organisational skills to effectively balance work and study

If you're motivated, eager to learn, and ready to make a real impact, this could be the perfect opportunity to launch your career in tech.

Your Development Path

Once you’ve completed your initial training, you’ll be ready to take on your first role. Project placements vary depending on business needs, and we encourage apprentices to explore a range of opportunities.

Typical roles on this programme may include:

  • Quality Engineer
  • AI & Data Analyst
  • Security Analyst
  • DevOps Engineer
  • Technology Business Analyst

Throughout your apprenticeship and beyond, you’ll be supported with ongoing training, coaching, and guidance to help you grow your skills and shape your career. You’ll also work across a variety of projects, giving you the chance to explore the breadth of what we do, apply what you are learning at university and discover where your strengths and interests lie.

On completion of your apprenticeship, you’ll be aligned to a specialised business area that reflects your ambitions. From that point on, you’ll continue to build expertise, take on more responsibility, and shape a career path that is uniquely yours.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll receive a blend of structured learning, hands-on experience, and tailored apprenticeship training to help you grow into a confident technologist. From day one, you’ll be supported by mentors, coaches, and a dedicated Accenture team focused on your development and wellbeing. You will start your journey with some core training, teaching you the skills (including GenAI) that you’ll need to be a successful analyst at Accenture.

You will undergo role-specific training to prepare you for your first client role. This can include delivery lifecycle, specific technologies and platforms, core programming languages, and the essential developer toolkit.

You will get the opportunity to gain industry recognised accreditations in areas such as Cloud and Technology Platform certifications.

You’ll get access to:

  • Core Apprentice Training: Our core learning programme designed to help new joiners build confidence and skills across areas from delivery best practice, how to work with clients, and programme specific skills.
  • Project-based learning: You’ll work on real challenges for real clients and with support from experienced teams, gain confidence and knowledge on the job.
  • Technology Exposure: Depending on your specific project, you’ll get exposure to a wide range of different technologies and systems and receive training to understand how to use as well as help implement them.
  • Apprenticeship Training: You’ll study towards a BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions through University of East London for 3 years. You’ll have one day a week dedicated to university studies and four days working on client projects applying what you learnt in real time. On successful completion, you’ll have the opportunity to move into a permanent role at Accenture.
  • Professional Development: We will invest in your continuous growth through our extensive learning portal, offering curated pathways, classroom-based and self-paced courses, and on-demand resources to keep your skills sharp throughout your apprenticeship.
