You’ll have the opportunity to work within one of the following teams:

Business Tax: It’s our job to help our clients understand and manage complex tax matters. Whichever business tax team you join, you will be given the opportunity to work closely with clients across all industries, on every aspect of their corporate tax affairs, solving their most complex challenges.

What kind of work will I do?

Join our student programme within Tax Consulting and you’ll get to work on the tax affairs of many companies across a range of industry sectors. We work with many of the world’s largest and most influential businesses, from tech start-ups to public sector bodies; from FTSE 100 and Global 2000 multinational groups to charities. We’re sure you’ll recognise their names!  We also work with private clients of high net worth, including business owners, private equity firms or international clients.

A role with us will involve a mix of reporting and advisory work. One day you could be researching and writing about tax-related topics, the next getting involved in pricing or deals. The diverse nature of our work means you may be advising the manager of a mobility programme, or helping a business deal with tax authorities. Often, our clients and colleagues will work overseas.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working.

If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any STEM degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

How will I develop?

We want our people to have world-class practical experience coupled with the technical rigour and knowledge that comes from the right professional qualification.

We think the best experience is being immersed in client work, working alongside other team members, and learning the practical skills that will set you up for a successful career. That will be the initial focus whether you are a Graduate, an Industrial Placement, or a BrightStart, supported by internal training and support from coaches, people leaders, and your team.

We think this is vital and will set you up for success when we further support your development with a professional qualification, recognising that different roles across our business align to different pathways.

These may include options such as joint or accelerated programmes leading to qualifications like Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), as well as other more specialist routes focused on tax or technical expertise.

We’re a collaborative, inclusive firm and we want to help you to use your unique talents and perspectives in the workplace. From diversity networks to wellbeing and much more, we aim to support and reward you in the best way possible.
