Phillips 66 has been operating in the UK for over 65 years and we are as excited about our future as we are proud of our past. We are committed to improving lives, and that is our promise to our employees and communities. We are sustained by the backgrounds and experiences of our diverse teams, which reflect who we are, the environment we create and how we work together.
Our company is built on values of safety, honour and commitment. We call our cultural mindset Our Energy in Action, which we define through four simple, intuitive behaviors: We work for the greater good, create an environment of trust, seek different perspectives and achieve excellence.
Our employees are the heart of our success, and there is a reason why we continue to attract great talent and it’s not just the excellent benefits package, or the opportunities for personal growth, it’s also the caring and committed culture of the organisation that makes everyone feel like they can bring their authentic self to work and be truly part of our team.
If you want work experience that really counts, consider a Structural and Civil Engineer placement with Phillips 66. We’re seeking a student currently studying — or recently graduated with — a degree in Structural and/or Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline to join us for a one-year industrial placement starting in summer 2027.
Throughout the industrial placement you’ll provide discipline support and technical expertise, contribute to short and long-term strategic planning, support during turnaround activities, assist in the development and implementation of new projects. You’ll also support the asset management of a wide range of civil infrastructure, including structures, stacks, silos, cooling towers, bridges, roads, rail systems and drainage networks. You will act as a focal point for Structural and Civil related issues for the refinery and associated sites.
As a Structural and Civil Engineering placement student, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of Structural and Civil schemes. You will be involved in all stages of the project - from initial development, through to detailed design, costing, procurement and installation. You will collaborate with our experienced professionals to contribute to the design, maintenance and development of critical infrastructure, supporting both new projects and asset integrity updates.
Should you do well during your time with us, you may be considered for a graduate position upon completion of your degree.
In order to be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all pre-screening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date of 8 November 2026.
Applications will be reviewed periodically throughout the advertising window. However, we may invite candidates who pass our screening process to selection events on a first-come, first-served basis and making offers of employment to people who are successful at those events, therefore we advise that you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Our assessment days will be held at our Humber Refinery and may include an overnight stay and dinner with experienced engineers (Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed and overnight accommodation will be provided if applicable).
