I joined RINA Consulting in July 2022 as a Materials and Electrical Consultant after completing my PhD study in Materials Science in 2020 and working as postdoctoral research fellow on HVDC power cable development for two years.
During my first few months at RINA, I have been working on several projects across various industrial sectors, which include power cable failure investigation, engineering material design evaluation for quality assurance, market potential research for new submarine cable accessories, and promoting high-level technology transition in inter-array cable systems for offshore wind industry, etc.
Working in such a dynamic environment enabled me to quickly expand my knowledge and experience from materials science to a broader and practical engineering application context, which I consider as a big bonus point for working in engineering consulting compared to academia. It also provides me with great opportunities to stay updated with the most cutting-edge technologies and the latest information on any changes happening in industry.
In addition, I also gradually built up my knowledge and skills in business management through project management and constant interaction with clients and stakeholders from different industries, which laid the foundation for a critical aspect for my future career development.
