Join us as an apprentice at the BBC to give yourself the opportunity to kick-start your career in a job you'll love. We’re committed to your skills and talent development. You’ll learn on-the-job, developing your knowledge and skills in an area that interests you, whilst working towards your apprenticeship qualification with one of our learning providers.
Data Science is evolving the way the BBC operates. Our data scientists help us to better understand the customers we serve, and the content served to them, turning raw data into valuable insights and products to better serve audience needs.
Whether audiences are watching on BBC iPlayer, listening on BBC Sounds, reading BBC News and BBC Sport articles or learning on BBC Bitesize, behind the scenes data scientists are at work...fancy being one of them?!
MediaTech Analytics provides analytics across the BBC’s digital products. Within it, Portfolio Analytics looks across the whole portfolio to answer one key question: which growth levers should we prioritise? As the BBC’s focus shifts towards journey optimisation, the customer lifecycle and new forms of value such as AI, the team helps senior leadership decide where to focus.
You’ll join Strategic Application, one of two teams within Portfolio Analytics. We get more value from existing data through reporting, frameworks and analysis, bringing insight to the MediaTech Board and leadership and turning our work into clear, compelling stories. We work closely with colleagues in Product Analytics, Strategy, Data Science and Data Governance.
Your work will grow with your technical skills. Assuming you’re starting as a beginner, you’ll begin by building reports from existing data tables, learning how our data fits together and how it informs decisions. Alongside this, you’ll develop your storytelling, sharing findings with the team and learning how to turn numbers into insight. As your confidence grows, you’ll take on deeper dives into specific topics and broaden your technical skills, with support from the team throughout.
MediaTech Analytics also has three apprentices currently in their third year. By the time you join, they’ll be in their fourth year and able to share their own experience of the apprenticeship journey with you.
