What do you do at Arcadis?

I am a Graduate GROW Engineer specialising as an Overhead Line Electrification Engineer

Why do you love working at Arcadis?

Arcadis is a calm, flexible company to work for. The business ethics and people first culture creates a supporting environment to grow in. There are a lot of different opportunities outside of the job role, like attending conferences, networking events, office socials and competitions.

Can you describe a ‘typical day’ in your role?

A typical day will involve team meetings, independent design work, training modules (either with the graduate scheme or talking through tasks with team members). The working day provides a lot of time for collaboration and people in the business are always happy to help.

What has been your favourite project up to now?

Rail upgrades in Newcastle. I was involved in this project from initial design stages so it was an interesting process of producing different designs to suit the varied track and overhead requirements. I was also able to go on site and complete surveys; this meant going on night shifts on track for assessment of the existing equipment. The opportunity to go out also gave context to the in house design work.

What tips would you give to someone who is applying to Arcadis?

Don't try too hard, be yourself, understand that you won't know everything and be prepared, but if you're unsure about anything just say so.
