Diversity & Inclusion

Our business is built on an unwavering commitment to our people and an inclusive environment. But what does inclusion actually mean?

For us, it goes beyond a diverse workforce; it’s about a culture of equality and respect where every person can voice their opinions without feeling judged. Where we challenge what has come before by listening to different perspectives and fresh thoughts. Where we innovate and make breakthroughs. Where every Arcadian feels valued, appreciated and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Where gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture and origin are strengths that improve our business and the solutions we deliver for clients.

Building that culture is a journey that is driven by inclusion. We’re proud of the strides we’ve made—the conversations, the concrete actions and the determination to do what’s right. We have an environment today where we’re looking to the future with optimism, excited by how our individual and team contributions will improve quality of life.

We aim to foster a workplace where women comprise more than 40% of our global workforce, and we’re on track to accomplish that by the end of 2023.

Our Global Affinity Groups have been designed to improve the quality of life for every Arcadian by creating an inclusive culture that is diverse, enabling all Arcadians to flourish, feel a sense of belonging at work whilst reflecting our clients, customers, communities and society as a whole. Their purpose is to challenge the status quo, empower others to be their whole selves and change perceptions and create allyship.

Our Global Affinity Groups

  • Gender – aims to create an equitable environment for all our people. An environment in which, no matter what their gender, each Arcadian, current or future, has the same access to opportunities to enable them to grow, develop and achieve their full potential.
  • Pride – aims to create a culture where LGBTQIA+ people are supported to stand out rather than to blend in by creating a culture of empathy and respect so everyone experiences a safe and equitable environment.
  • Access & Neurodiversity – aims to drive a culture of greater understanding and acceptance of disabilities and neurodivergence; more openness about the struggles sometimes faced by our colleagues, with a greater focus on their strengths and talents better understood and recognised through equitable opportunities.
  • Ethnicity & Heritage – aims to foster a culture that understands and embraces the racial, ethnic and cultural diversity of our people and communities, working effectively across teams and across regions and increasing representation and retention of those from racial and ethnic minority groups in all areas at all levels, particularly in leadership.
  • Age Representation – aims to promote employee wellbeing and inclusion irrespective of age and take a stand against ageism. We want to lead Arcadis to the employer of choice for all ages.

We know the challenges - urbanisation, climate change, societal expectations and digitalisation. It’s easy to be daunted. But we see an opportunity; a positive future, ours to shape, with different voices, new thoughts and fresh perspectives.

Join us, share yours, and together let’s create something incredible.
