I am an Apprentice Cost Consultant. I work alongside Studying a BSc in Quantity Surveying.
Everyone is accommodating and patient; you can tell they want you to be your best version of yourself. I love that not only are we expected to do our job well, with the help of dedicated learning and the excellent training systems, but we are also expected to take care of our mental health. There are sections in the meeting dedicated to our health and well-being and what we can do to do something more safely or look after our well-being.
I join team meetings about the projects I'm involved in to help me understand the project's stages and if any early warnings may impact the cost. I assess compensation events and application of payments and run through them with my senior manager to discuss the information I may have missed to improve how I audit. I also use the learning section on oracle when I can to take part in the free online courses to sharpen my knowledge around topics such as NEC contracts etc.
I would have to say Shoreham because I have been given more responsibility on this project which in turn helps me learn and will help me be more confident for future projects I will be involved in.
Be yourself and be ready to demonstrate your hard work and motivation. It will be noticed and rewarded.
