Working for Pembroke Power Plant as a Mechanical Engineering placement student has been an eye opening and rewarding experience for me so far. I have had the opportunity to work directly in a small engineering team where you are given work and experience regularly. This aspect of the placement is what has given my confidence and professional skills a major boost as I develop myself as an engineer.
Over the past couple of months I have been involved in multiple projects that have a direct connection to the plant. For instance, being counted on to analyse and report process safety data through software packages like Seeq and PI Processbook has been a major responsibility for me. This is crucial to the plant as it allows for ideas on modifications and maintenance of the plant to allow it to run to its optimum performance. Elsewhere, I have even had the opportunity to design a modification to the plant which in turn would help with the smooth running of the station.
