Join us at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) in the heart of the City of London or at our UK headquarters in Swindon.
Our Transmission team work across Europe ensuring that our generation and storage projects benefit from optimal grid connections –this complex but exciting environment will provide you with working knowledge of the grid connection procedure, the regulatory environment surrounding it and the evaluation of commercial and operational risks.
You will contribute to the development of power flow and congestion models, support and contribute to critical stakeholder meetings, review UK transmission policy changes, assist the team in identifying optimal points of connection for current and future renewable generation projects, and support us to undertake commercial risk assessments of grid related policies and constraints.

We’re looking for students who are in the penultimate year of an electrical, power or renewable energy engineering degree or similar (if your studies have included energy policy or economics, that would be an added bonus) and who are ideally on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher. A current placement student will be allocated as a Buddy to all new joiners, enhancing the on-boarding process and overlapping your start date to ensure seamless support as you begin your journey.
To help you get the most out of your placement, we provide lots of support and development opportunities, including in-house courses and on-the-job training with everything you need to make the placement a success. Alongside the day-job, you’ll be provided with comprehensive behavioural skills training with our expert partner, Cappfinity. This will enable you to harness your strengths from day one and identify new ways to utilise the key Skills That Build Skills. This includes interactive sessions where you can learn from our facilitators and your own peers, and self-led elements to support your application of learning back in your day-to-day role.
