Associate High Voltage Design Engineer

Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronic, Electrical.

No high voltage experience needed — full training provided. Real engineering from day one.

At Essex X-Ray, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines. You’ll be designing, building and testing real products while developing specialist high voltage engineering skills alongside experienced engineers.

You’ll take ownership of real engineering work, see your designs progress from concept through manufacture and testing, and develop towards becoming a Design Engineer.

Build specialist skills. Take on real responsibility. Accelerate your engineering career.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across the full engineering lifecycle, including:

  • Designing components and assemblies using 3D CAD
  • Supporting prototype manufacture and hands-on assembly
  • Carrying out high voltage testing and validation
  • Producing engineering drawings, documentation and technical reports
  • Investigating engineering problems and developing design improvements
  • Taking designs from initial concept through to manufacture and test

What’s in it for you

  • Real design responsibility — contribute to live engineering projects from the start
  • Hands-on engineering — design it, build it, test it and improve it
  • Rapid development — work directly alongside experienced engineers
  • Specialist expertise — develop valuable skills in the niche field of high voltage engineering
  • Visible impact — see your work progress from concept to finished product
  • Clear progression — a supported development path towards a Design Engineer role
  • Graduate engineering team — develop alongside other early-career engineers

What we’re looking for

  • A 2:1 degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electronic, or a related Engineering discipline
  • 6 months’ industrial engineering experience, gained through employment, an internship or industrial placement
  • A practical, curious mindset and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
