Graduate R&D Engineer

Aerospace, Aerodynamics, Mechanical.

About Aerosensor

Aerosensor designs and manufactures high-precision aerodynamic measurement devices used across applications ranging from elite cycling to Formula One.

We launched our first products in 2023 and, in July 2025, moved into a new laboratory at Dunsfold Park, home to our world-class probe calibration wind tunnel, capable of a wide range of onset angles at airspeeds of up to 275 mph. Our mission is to become the global leader in aerodynamic measurement.

Your Role

This is a hands-on engineering role, not purely a desk-based design position. You will work closely with experienced engineers across mechanical design, aerodynamics, electronics and software to design, manufacture and test precision aerodynamic measurement equipment for customers ranging from automotive OEMs to Formula One teams.

A large proportion of your work will be based in our workshop and wind tunnel, fulfilling customer orders and developing new hardware, alongside designing parts in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run calibration and test campaigns in the wind tunnel.
  • Build precision components and assemblies.
  • Design 3D models and create engineering drawings in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (training will be provided).
  • Produce customer quotes, from specification through to pricing and delivery estimates.
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality, cost, and lead times.
  • Improve our internal processes and documentation.

Requirements

  • A degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A genuine interest in aerodynamics, experimental engineering, and product development.
  • Comfortable with 3D CAD (CATIA experience is an advantage, but training provided).
  • Ability to explain your work clearly to colleagues, suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Experimental aerodynamics experience.
  • Basic coding ability for internal tools or data processing.
  • Electronics design experience.
  • Familiarity with DFMA, GD&T, or tolerance stacks.
  • Graphic design skills or an interest in creating technical marketing materials would be a bonus.

What We Offer

Working for a small, rapidly growing engineering company gives you the opportunity to make a real difference: to influence the direction of the company and to see probes you have designed, assembled and calibrated used on Formula One cars.

  • Competitive salary.
  • Performance-linked annual bonus scheme, up to 10% of base salary.
  • Training on CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE and our internal calibration methods.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Free onsite parking.

Right to Work

You must have the right to work in the UK. Aerosensor does not hold a sponsor licence and is not able to sponsor work visas for this role.

Aerosensor is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
