Are you interested in a placement with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our Gas Asset Management group has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!

RWE Generation’s Gas Asset Management group supports our portfolio of gas fired power stations across Europe. Our Commercial, Performance & Testing placement role will allow you to work within this group, focussing on carrying out performance testing and troubleshooting our power station assets. Members of the team are intimately connected with the power stations and energy trading group.

About the role

• Engage directly in hands-on plant performance testing across RWE’s gas-fired power stations (UK and potentially European Union).
• Collaborate with experienced performance engineers to collect and validate operational and test data, using advanced digital tools and expert systems.
• Support both routine and high-profile contractual tests, including witnessing OEM-led acceptance activities, ensuring high-quality data analysis, and learning how test results drive commercial and engineering decisions in a dynamic energy market.
• Develop thermodynamic models and analyse and interpret the test results.

You will attend courses, workshops and on the job training for your personal development. 

You may also have the opportunity to spend time with other disciplines across the Asset Management function, learning about the challenges of managing a pan-European portfolio business.

Job requirements and experience

• Ideally, you are pursuing a degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical or Chemical/Process), with an interest in the energy industry and knowledge of engineering fundamentals such as thermodynamics. 
• A strong aptitude in analytical methods is essential.

You will be using the latest analytical and visualisation tools, such as Seeq, PI Vision and other specialised software.

The Assessment Centre will take place on Tuesday 24th November 2026 face to face at DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon, Wilts SN5 8UZ. Accommodation will be booked on your behalf and travel subsidised by RWE. The evening prior to the Assessment Centre a meal will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton which you will be required to attend.
