Food and Pharma Market Specialist

The role:

As a key member of the Market Unit, the Regional Market Specialist has the overall aim of delivering sustainable growth and retention of business for AL. This role will see you selling Air Liquide products and services (scientific gas / equipment / process solutions) to a wide range of customers in the dynamic and fast paced F&P Market segment.

Predominantly field based the role is covering the North of the UK, and will be centred around our offices in Manchester. Primary responsibilities include managing Air Liquide’s existing customer base and business development. You will be involved in all stages of development from prospection through to negotiation of contract and ongoing customer management. You will achieve this whilst being aligned with AL policies (safety, pricing, offer management), support functions, sales campaigns and agreed pre determined objectives.

You will receive training in food and beverage applications and scientific gases from our highly regarded technical experts, many of whom have designed and patented the equipment and solutions that you will provide to customers. You will be exposed to many areas of the business providing the right person with exceptional career progression prospects both in the UK and worldwide. You will be willing to move laterally and upwards in the organisation within a relatively short timescale.

It’s essential for you to have:

  • Strong selling, prospecting and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Confident presentation style and ability to present to a wide variety of audiences
  • Strong knowledge of tools such as ExCel (or similar)
  • Previous field based sales experience managing a region
  • The willingness to adopt and promote new and modern ways of working
  • Desire to learn new skills and a willingness to learn
  • Aspirations to progress and develop your career in a growing organisation

We would really like you to have:

  • An understanding of the UK Food market would be an advantage
  • Ability to coordinate resources across the AL business and provide clear instruction in order to achieve results either for new business or existing customers
  • Adaptable interpersonal style to effectively interact and build relationships with a variety of people
  • An interest in solving problems for customers and being a solutions provider. Seek new ways and concepts leading to innovative solutions
  • Experience at managing contracted customers, with mid to long term sales cycle
  • Cold calling or lead generation experience would be highly desirable

What qualifications do I need?

  • Science / business related degree
  • Minimum A*-C in English, Maths and Science GCSE or equivalent
