What does it mean to be a Lendlease graduate? Our Grad Life series finds out first-hand. This week, we caught up with: Valentina Quintero, Consulting Graduate
Valentina - 21 - studied English Language and Linguistics and is an Assistant Bid Manager on the Lendlease Graduate Programme. She lives in London.
I felt welcomed at the assessment centre. The company vision and strategy drew me in, but the people were what made my decision.
Assisting with the end-to-end bid process, which involves winning work by outlining how Lendlease would meet the client’s requirements in bid questions, creating response documents and proofreading, editing and formatting responses. I also assist with the development of marketing materials and am responsible for the monthly Consulting Newsletter.
Engaging and relaxed. Most graduate recruitment processes are not going to be quick and easy, so it helps when a company is as interested in meeting you as you are in meeting them. You are undoubtedly going to have some nerves but just remember to prepare some interview answers to help put your mind at rest.
Incredibly helpful. Having started at Lendlease without an industry specific degree I thought I would be at a disadvantage, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I have had the opportunity to complete all sorts of training including soft-skills focused courses, the APM PFQ (Association for Project Management Project Fundamentals Qualification), Primavera P6 introductory training, and a Core Trades Awareness course. This has allowed me to settle into the business, improve my technical skills, and gain a better idea of the industry.
There are various opportunities to try new things and gain new skills. The training offered on and off the Graduate Programme is great. Lendlease ensures that you always have the support you need.
