Job Description:

What does a Land Surveyor do at GRAHAM?

Land Surveying is the science of measuring and mapping the physical environment. As a Graduate Land Surveyor, you will develop your technical knowledge and practical surveying skills while working on a range of live construction and civil engineering projects.

You will support the surveying team in carrying out surveys, collecting and analysing data, and delivering accurate information relating to land, buildings and infrastructure projects. The data gathered helps inform engineering, construction, mapping and land development activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely and accurately.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate in Land Surveying, or a related discipline, to begin their career within a leading construction and civil engineering business. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain exposure to a variety of surveying techniques, technologies and projects, while building the skills and experience needed to progress your career as a Land Surveyor.

A Land Surveyor Shall:

  • Assist with topographical and site surveys.
  • Support the collection and processing of survey data.
  • Learn to use surveying equipment, including GPS, Total Stations, laser scanners and drones.
  • Assist with the production of drawings, maps and reports using AutoCAD and other surveying software.
  • Support the surveying team with setting out activities on site.
  • Interpret survey information from maps, drawings and site plans.
  • Assist with volume calculations and earthworks surveys.
  • Help to maintain accurate survey records and project documentation.
  • Support as-built, deformation monitoring and control surveys.
  • Learn how GIS and digital mapping systems are used within construction projects.
  • Collaborate with Site Engineers, Project Managers and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with equipment checks, calibration and maintenance.
  • Adhere to company health, safety and quality standards at all times.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Land Surveyor and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Requirements:

Technical Competencies

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified to HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Right to work in UK and Ireland.
  • Full Driving Licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • An appreciation of Health & Safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Previous work experience specifically in the Construction Industry.
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving.
