As a Graduate Building Services Manager, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) services within fast-paced commercial fit out environments. Working alongside experienced Building Services and Project Managers, you will gain hands-on experience in managing service installations, reviewing technical designs, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your technical knowledge of building services within interior fit out projects, where programme management, coordination, and client satisfaction are critical to success. You will play an important part in ensuring MEP works are integrated seamlessly into high-quality workplace, retail, and commercial environments.

Job Description:

The Assistant Building Services Manager will assist the Building Services team throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to project completion and aftercare.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the review of Mechanical and Electrical designs during both pre-construction and live project stages, ensuring designs are practical, coordinated, and suitable for fit out delivery.
  • Supporting the coordination of MEP services within commercial interior fit out projects, helping to identify and resolve design and installation challenges.
  • Attending project meetings with clients, consultants, specialist subcontractors, and internal teams to gain experience and provide support on building services matters.
  • Assisting site teams with the management, coordination, and quality assurance of MEP installations on site.
  • Supporting the resolution of technical building services issues that may arise during construction.
  • Working closely with project and site management teams to ensure construction activities are coordinated with MEP installations and programme requirements.
  • Assisting in the review of technical submissions, shop drawings, and Requests for Information (RFIs) from the supply chain before submission to clients and consultants.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of project commissioning and handover plans.
  • Assisting in the review of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation associated with building services installations.
  • Working with specialist subcontractors to help develop installation, testing, and commissioning programmes that align with the overall fit out programme.
  • Supporting the commissioning and handover process, including client demonstrations, user training, and the production of operation and maintenance documentation.
  • Assisting with the management of post-completion activities and aftercare requirements to ensure client satisfaction and smooth building occupation.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Assistant Building Services Manager and the range of duties to be undertaken.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Applicants must be in the final year of, or have recently completed, a Building Services related degree with a minimum or predicted 2:1.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willing to work throughout the UK 

Desirable:

  • An appreciation of Health & Safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry.
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving.

The Recruitment Process:

  • The closing date for applications will be January 2027
  • Interviews will commence in February 2027.
  • Successful candidates will be notified in March 2027.
  • All successful applicants will have joined the business by September 2027, if not before.
