Student Quantity Surveyor - Interior Fit Out - (Year Out Placement)

About The Role

At GRAHAM, we are committed to developing the next generation of commercial professionals. We are seeking a motivated Year Out Student Quantity Surveyor to join our Interior Fit-Out team as part of a placement year.

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and project teams, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience supporting the commercial delivery of high-quality fit-out and refurbishment projects across a range of sectors. You'll be involved in cost management, procurement, valuations, subcontractor administration, and financial reporting, helping you build a strong foundation for a future career in Quantity Surveying.

This placement offers an excellent opportunity to apply your academic learning in a live project environment while developing practical skills and industry knowledge within the fast-paced fit-out sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of project budgets, cost plans, and valuations.
• Support subcontractor procurement and account administration.
• Help monitor project costs and maintain commercial records.
• Assist with variations, payments, and final accounts.
• Attend site visits and project meetings to gain an understanding of project delivery.
• Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, and site teams.
• Build relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Contribute to the successful commercial management of interior fit-out projects.

Our industrial placements can last from 3-12 months, dependent on your college/university curriculum. On your placement you will be given the support, guidance and experience which will lay the foundations for a great future in a Construction career. Requirements:

Technical Competencies

Essential:

• Currently studying a degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline. 
• Demonstrate strong communication skills. 
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Strong IT skills. 
• Right to work in the UK. 
• Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable: 
• An appreciation of Health & Safety practices. 
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team. 
• Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry. 
• Able to demonstrate problem solving.
