Our Work

Our Sectors

With Bristows you’ll be joining a leader in some of the most exciting and dynamic fields of business today, working to enable innovation and help shape the future. We specialise in life sciences, technology, brands and other dynamic sectors. We have long-standing relationships with clients who lead in these fields and trust us for clear-cut, pragmatic advice.

Our Practice Areas

Our trainee programme gives you the chance to spend time working in different roles right across our different practice areas. With each ‘seat’ lasting either three or six months, you can expect to experience five or six different practice areas as a trainee.

  • Intellectual property
Experience working in an IP practice that’s consistently ranked among the world's best, having taken the lead on many of the cases and deals that have shaped today's fast-growing industries.
  • Information technology
Your chance to focus on deals where IT is at the heart of the transaction, helping act for clients whose businesses centre on technology, life sciences, financial services, government, brands and media.
  • Data, cyber & libel
Get to the heart of new technology, working as part of our data, cyber & libel team, which acts for many of the world’s leading tech companies. The work can include cloud providers, social networks and providers of AI, adtech and online content.
  • Corporate
You’ll experience a broad spectrum of corporate work, for businesses ranging from multi-national corporations, investment funds and leading institutions to start-ups and young, fast-growing companies.
  • Commercial and technology disputes
Work alongside our commercial disputes lawyers, who’ve earned a powerful reputation both for avoiding disputes and securing successful outcomes when they're unavoidable. Your role could include contract, tort and regulatory disputes in core areas such as technology, copyright and financial services.
  • Real estate
You’ll be supporting our work for a range of owner and occupier clients, from multi-national corporations to UK-based businesses, and from established names to start-ups. You’ll build an understanding of real estate law and explore creative and practical solutions to the challenges our clients face.
  • Regulatory
Find out what it’s like serving some of the most heavily regulated industries in the world. You could be involved in work for clients that include leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and major producers of medical devices, chemical products, food and cosmetics.
  • Competition & EU
Work with some of the leading experts in both national and EU competition law. We have a long track record of representing clients in front of the competition authorities and courts in Brussels, Luxembourg and the UK.
  • Media & marketing
Become part of our specialist media and marketing teams, working with leading brand owners and marketing specialists to provide advice on all aspects of advertising and marketing law; regulation, clearance and dispute.
  • Employment
Learn about the different aspects of employment and industrial relations law. These include strategic advice on business initiatives and change management, discrimination issues (including bullying and harassment), long-term sickness and stress claims, disciplinary and grievance issues and family-friendly rights.
  • Tax
Discover how our tax experts enable clients from multi-nationals to start-ups to minimise tax exposure and do business while complying with the UK's maze-like tax system. You’ll be part of a team offering advice on the full range of tax issues affecting corporates and investors.
