We are one of the largest and oldest student-led physics societies in the country and we organise weekly social events for the physics students in the University of Birmingham. Events include bar crawls, quizzes, sober socials, an annual ball and much more. We also arrange academic events such as careers fairs and our famous Science on Tap where we listen to lecturers’ research in a bar.
We welcome all students and aim to promote relationships between students and improve student satisfaction in Physics. We also run several sports teams including 6-a-side and 11-a-side football as well as a netball team.
We recently hosted FUSE 2023 which is the annual meeting of IOP affiliated societies which provides a forum for societies to network and discuss how to improve events and learn from each other.
We hosted a masterclass on how to run large events and had many sessions talking with societies from across the country.
A themed Ball hosted in a beautiful venue where we have a 3-course meal and drinks as well as an awards ceremony for students and lecturers. This event has around 400 attendees and is a great way to end a year.

Our annual beginning of the year bar crawl sees upwards of 250 attendees and has us visiting 5 bars/clubs across Selly Oak and Birmingham’s Broad Street.
We spent 2 nights in Gower, Wales where 50 students spent days hiking in the hills, spending time on the beach and having a bonfire with BBQs.
