We are South Bank Racing, a group of students from London South Bank University. We made our IMechE Formula Student debut in 2022 at Silverstone, where we exhibited great resilience and inventiveness by developing and manufacturing the SBR-01 race car from the ground up and competed well in endurance event.
We focused on continual progress and applied lessons from 2022 to increase team teamwork and car performance, resulting in additional sponsors and the prestigious 2023 IMechE cash award. This programme considerably enhances our students' practical learning and professional development. In 2024, we are committed to reaching even higher milestones in all dynamic events of FS2024 with the redesigned SBR-03 car.
South Bank Racing's recent endeavours have demonstrated our commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. In Formula Student 2023, we competed in the high-stakes environment of student-designed racing, allowing our team to apply their collected knowledge and talents. This project tested not just our technical skills, but also our strategic thinking and collaboration.
Another notable effort was track testing for SBR-02. This phase was critical for testing our design theories and collecting real-world data. The track testing sessions yielded crucial insights into the vehicle's performance, handling, and reliability. These lessons were useful in identifying areas for improvement and fine-tuning our car for peak performance.
The design and construction of SBR-03 represented a significant step forward in our quest of engineering prowess. This project required a thorough approach, from initial design to final production of the car. Our team used cutting-edge design approaches and manufacturing procedures to ensure that SBR-03 was not only innovative, but also met the demanding Formula Student competition requirements.
Each of these projects has substantially aided our team members' professional and technical development, establishing South Bank Racing as a forward-thinking and dynamic force in the field of student motorsport engineering.
