Lancaster Motorsport is a society with a passion for automotive engineering and all things fast, whether it's watching Formula 1 races, karting or networking with others with an interest for all things motorsport-related. We are one of the biggest societies at Lancaster University and were the winner of 'Leaps and Bounds' Society Award 2023.
We're a vibrant community with a range of society socials, events and interests including motorsport viewings, casual and competitive karting socials, Women in Motorsport, trips to circuits and car meets, socials for members and road trips.
Race ViewingsThe society streams all Formula 1 qualifiers and races during term time. Qualifying is typically watched on campus while races are streamed at bars in the city centre. Race viewings provide students the opportunity to meet other fans, socialise and watch the races in a hyped but friendly atmosphere regardless of your team or level of knowledge. |

RosesLast year in 2023 marked the first time Lancaster Motorsport competed in Roses. The competition held every year between Lancaster and York universities marks the biggest inter-university varsity in Europe with a wide range of sports and activities from various societies and teams taking place. Racing at York's home circuit our team was able to gain places after qualifying to a surprisingly narrow points gap. In 2024 we are looking forward to hosting York at home at the Rowrah race circuit nestled on the edge of the Lake District. |

Donnington ParkIn December we headed to the classic Donnington circuit to watch rally as a society. This will included a wide range of cars in-particular Ford Escorts, Mitsubishi Evos, and Subaru Imprezas, as well as more modern WRC-style machines. Despite the cold conditions the event was a success with members witnessing some solid rally action and got the chance to test their motorsport photography skills. |

Wales TourIn 2023 we undertook our first-ever road trip to the heartland of Wales. The weekend-long trip took us through the stunning Eryri National Park all the way down to Aberystwyth. The first time the society has ever attempted such a feature (and despite some mishaps and technical faults here and there) the trip was a success and popular with those that attended. |
