QMUL Medical Genetics Society

Our society is dedicated to promoting curiosity and passion for genetics. Beyond our lecture theatres, we will discuss cutting-edge discoveries, ethical debates and breakthroughs in medical genetics. We aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and specific interests within genetics that are not covered in lectures.

We believe learning should be enjoyable! We host lots of social events and chill get-togethers where we can play games, watch movies, study together, but also hold educational discussions.

Our society is a welcoming space for sharing ideas, exploring career paths, and celebrating the world of genetics together. Join us!

The facts
We are a completely student-led society.
Founded in 2023 - we’re a young and growing society!
Supportive community - older years share advice to help younger years thrive.
Many of our events involve snacks because studying (and socialising) is better with food involved!
We welcome students from all disciplines, not just Medical Genetics, because genetics overlaps with so many fields!

Freshers welcome fair

We’ve welcomed new students, given out freebies and shared what we have to offer as a society.

Module insights

We’ve hosted events that allow older years to share helpful tips, advice and experiences, as well as a breakdown of the key modules to be decided, to younger years.

Our most recent panellist event

We've collaborated with the Machine Learning, Biology, WoSTEM and biomedical society to hold Panellist discussions featuring leading experts in biosciences.
