MCR Met Racing is the official Formula Student team of Manchester Metropolitan University, founded in 2007. Each year, we take on the challenge of designing, manufacturing, and racing a competitive single-seater car, competing in the internal combustion category. This year, we have expanded our involvement to include an entry in the Electric Vehicle category, pushing innovation further within our team.
We compete annually at Silverstone in the prestigious IMechE Formula Student UK competition, testing our engineering, teamwork and problem-solving skills against teams from across the world.
Beyond engineering, we encourage students from all courses and disciplines to get involved, offering opportunities in design, business, marketing and media. Our team provides hands-on, industry-relevant experience, helping students develop essential skills while fostering a strong and supportive team environment.
Each year, MCR Met Racing takes on the challenge of competing in Formula Student UK, held annually at Silverstone. This competition puts our engineering and teamwork skills to the test as we compete with university teams from around the world.
In addition to Silverstone, our team has previously competed in Formula Student Netherlands which allowed us to gain valuable experience and further refine our vehicle's performance. These competitions provide a platform for our members to apply their technical knowledge in a real-world environment while continuously improving our car's design and reliability.
