KCL Tech is King’s College London’s dedicated Technology society, bringing together students with different skill sets from various disciplines to create an innovative and supportive community. The society has quickly built up a reputation for having exciting events from hosting TechSummit - the UK’s biggest student tech career fair, to running multiple hackathons, as well as providing workshops, and talks with industry. What’s more, all of our events, and membership, are free.
Focusing on three core aspects, Careers, Hackathons and Programming Workshops, the newly launched KCL Tech Academy aims to expand on the latter with not just workshops and bootcamps but supporting students with digital resources and tutorials.
The newly launched KCL Tech Academy hosts Programming Workshops, Bootcamps, Tutorials, and Insights, aiming to equip students with practical coding skills, and foster a collaborative environment for tech-driven innovation, and career development.

With over 1,000 sign-ups, co-hosted by KCL Tech, and UCL Tech Society, TechSummit 2024 featured over 25 guest speakers, 15 leading tech companies, and a series of panel discussions covering topics from AI to fintech, alongside workshops and networking sessions. Students from across the UK came together to explore career opportunities, connect with industry leaders, and gain insights into the world of technology.
HackTheLion 2025 was a thrilling capture-the-flag-style cybersecurity hackathon co-hosted by KCL Tech, and KCL Cybersecurity. Students tackled real-world security challenges, collaborated with peers, and competed to be crowned HackTheLion champion.
Hosted annually, HackLondon 2025 was a 24-hour student hackathon hosted at UCL, jointly organised by UCL Technology Society, KCL Technology Society, UCL Data Science Society, and UCL Computer Science Society, bringing together over 200 participants for a weekend of innovation, coding, workshops, and over £4,000 in prizes, with sponsors including OpenAI, and bending spoons.
Hosted annually, FirstYearHack is a hackathon dedicated to first-year students. FirstYearHack 2025 was a collaborative hackathon between KCL Tech, and King's Labs, where first-year students had to ‘gamify’ everyday life at King’s College London through either a technical, or non-technical route, with the goal of enhancing the student experience.
