KLSS is a society aiming to create a community of students from the school of life sciences! We represent many different courses, such as biomedical science, neuroscience, biology, human biology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology. We welcome anyone with an interest in biosciences and being part of the community.
W have weekly socials where you can come and make friends, or just have weekly social activity to join! To support your academic development, we have weekly study sessions and also other academic events such as talks. Last year we even arranged drop ins with members of staff such as having a session with our placements and project managers for the school of life sciences. With lots of fun collabs and student staff events!
We also have dedicated wellbeing and EDI officers as well to ensure we have your wellbeing in mind at all times. And lastly... our traditional end of year ball!
A student led society aiming to form a community of students and represent the very diverse School of Life Sciences! Courses we represent include: Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Biology and other Bioscience related courses.
We have a blend of academic and fun social events planned regularly over the year. For the last 2 years, we have been running weekly socials and casual activities while also hosting weekly academic drop-ins and study sessions. But those are just the regulars! We also have an exciting end of year ball. This is a society tradition we work very hard to deliver every year! Last year we also introduced KLSS awards during our summer 2025 ball. We also run trips, e.g. a Christmas market trip to Manchester in December 2024.
We're also here to help your well-being by running well-being sessions and having a designated well-being officer within the committee! Although the well-being officer takes the lead, the whole committee is present to be a listening ear if you ever need!
To support academic and professional development, this year we ran several talks involving staff members including the school's placements and projects manager in our academic sessions.
This year we are hoping to build on these past experiences and student feedback! We already have a few exciting events and campaigns in the works, so stay tuned if you don't want to miss a chance to be involved with these special events!
