The CSG Engineering Society is a non-profit, student-led organisation dedicated to inspiring collaboration and fostering innovation across all fields of engineering. With a thriving community of over 750 members, including undergraduate students, postgraduates, and alumni, we serve as a bridge between students and industry.
Our mission is simple yet powerful:
To inspire collaboration, develop technical and professional skills, and create impactful projects that empower our members to reach their full potential.
Through our partnerships with Siemens, IMechE, and the City SST Department, we actively create opportunities for students to connect with industry leaders, gain hands-on experience, and develop the skills required for modern engineering challenges.
Over a 12-week training programme, our members were introduced to Siemens NX through a series of technical workshops led by our technical project team.
The project culminated in a CAD design competition, judged by engineers from Siemens and academics from the City SST Department. Students presented their concepts, received expert feedback, and answered advanced technical questions from the panel.
Projects that particularly impressed the Siemens judges were invited to Manchester to compete in the Siemens connected curriculum competition, a proud milestone for our society.
Our interdisciplinary Go-Kart initiative 2025/2026 brings together students from Mechanical, Biomedical, and Civil Engineering to design and build five go-karts from scratch. The project integrates multiple disciplines, from racing track design by Civil Engineering students to biosensor integration by Biomedical teams, promoting creativity, teamwork, and practical problem-solving. We recently organised an exclusive trip to Arqiva, the UK’s leading telecoms infrastructure company.
Thirty students toured the facilities, engaged with engineers, and gained a first-hand look at how large-scale telecommunications systems operate, marking the first society-led visit of its kind at City, St George’s University.
Our networking events connect students directly with industry professionals, helping them build early career connections and explore pathways into engineering innovation, design, and research.
We regularly collaborate with other leading engineering societies at City, St George’s, hosting joint technical workshops, social events, and interdisciplinary projects that allow students to expand their network across specialisations.
These awards reflect our continued commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and professional development across our membership.
