Graduates typically join as officers, which means you’ll be leading from the front, managing people and having real responsibility from very early on. As an Engineer Officer, you’ll need to understand, maintain and manage our state-of-the-art systems and equipment. Unlike many civilian engineering jobs, you won’t be based behind a desk, you’ll be out in the field, working on equipment like the F35 Joint Strike Fighter or the Type 45 Destroyer.
Your training will be 100% tailored to your needs and interests, and if you want to pursue post-graduate study, or work towards being a Chartered Engineer, we’ll pay for it and give you time to study.

Becoming an Army Officer starts at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Here you’ll learn everything from fundamental skills to big-picture military strategy and the theoretical elements of leadership. After completing the course you’ll undertake specialist training to prepare you for your place in the Army, which could be anything from hi-tech telecommunications to combat engineering. You’ll then take command of a platoon or troop of soldiers.
