Production/Process Engineer Placement

Eastman produces a range of advanced materials, additives, specialty chemicals, and fibres that are found in products people use every day.

The job is varied and no two days tend to be the same. We try to give our students “real –life” production experience, working alongside our process engineers and operators and involving them in the day to day issues of running and safely managing a production unit. We expect the student to quickly contribute to the business and in return they will benefit from obtaining experience of managing systems, problems, opportunities and people. Suitable training and mentoring will be provided. The candidate needs to be flexible in approach and an excellent communicator to take on the tasks of the day which can include any of the following:

  • On stream time monitoring
  • Daily SAP checks to report production
  • Management of Change
  • Permit to work monitoring
  • Troubleshooting
  • Plant trials – involvement with production and laboratory
  • Project engineering support
  • Incident investigation
  • Writing and updating operating instructions
  • Shutdown planning and shutdown management
  • Safety reviews and initiatives
  • Risk assessment – both formal and informal (dynamic)
  • COSHH assessments
  • Interlock document updates
  • Interlock testing
  • LOPA
  • PHR
  • Lean
  • 6 Sigma
  • Continuous improvement initiatives

We are looking for someone studying towards a degree in Chemical Engineering with good common sense, practically minded with good written, numerical and social skills.

Your benefits:

  • £19,000 p.a. plus 25 days' holiday, access to Gymnasium and subsidised staff restaurant.
