We're a distributor of components of renewable energy systems - from solar panels to batteries and heat pumps. We're working to empower a low-carbon future through the products that we sell.
We are a fast-growing company - founded in 2005 from the spare room of a narrowboat, we've grown through 6 ever-larger warehouses and recently opened a subsidiary in Dublin. Our team of around 75 staff process around 40,000 orders a year for solar pv systems, battery storage, electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps. We were proud to be named the UK's best renewables distributor in 2020.
Midsummer began on a narrowboat in 2005. Our MD Andy lived off-grid and, as a former climate scientist, had experience with PV and battery systems in remote locations.
As an organisation, we have a strong environmental ethos and a passion for promoting the uptake of renewables, and our team share a belief in an open and honest approach to business.
If you're handy with a spreadsheet but also like variety and a dynamic working environment, then this could be the job for you.
You'll work under the Procurement Director, helping with identifying trends in demand, ensuring key product lines are well stocked, raising orders and keeping their arrival information accurate, liaising with suppliers and also with the warehouse inbound team to ensure goods are correctly and promptly received.
You will assist with the imports process and record-keeping, and support both analysis of pricing and the onboarding and listing of new suppliers. In the event of shortages or delays on key components, you'll need to support the purchasing team with creative problem solving.
You like a balance of crunching numbers, and building relationships with people. You're interested in data and trends, and have an eye for detail. You enjoy negotiating over prices, know when to jump on the phone to solve a problem and are comfortable shuffling priorities when things get busy.
You enjoy a dynamic work atmosphere, and have a friendly and easy-going manner with co-workers and customers. You're numerate, analytical and detail-oriented - you can not only compile data but understand its limitations, and have a good head for a commercial context. We place orders for many millions of pounds worth of products, so being comfortable with large sums is important. This role is ideal for someone looking for early responsibility in a fast-growing company.
Experience in purchasing, logistics and supply chain roles is helpful but not required and recent graduates who want to begin a career in renewables would be equally welcome to apply. As long as you are self-driven, friendly, and have a passion for renewable energy then we'd love to hear from you.
We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
