University Of York.

What degree are you doing?

Computer Science with a year in industry.

Tell me a fun fact about yourself?

I enjoy scuba diving, currently training for my BSAC Sports Diver Qualification.

Why did you choose Couchbase?

The company culture. Everyone I spoke to in interviews and during general correspondence was very friendly and accommodating, which was very refreshing after all the interviews I’d had with generic managerial types. It seemed like it would be a very welcoming place to start my career and it has been.

Favourite thing about your role?

I get to make use of and experience lots of technologies and languages that I haven’t really used before, such as gRPC and Go.

One thing you have learned since joining? 

I have learned how to programme with Go, but as part of working with other skilled software engineers my coding skills, in general, have gotten exponentially better.
