Coffey is at the forefront of delivering design and feasibility solutions for engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, and geo-environmental projects. The core of our business is geotechnical design consultancy including engineering geological, design for infrastructure projects (road and rail), water, energy, buildings and land developments.
As an Engineering Geologist, you’ll contribute to feasibility, assessment and design across engineering geology, geotechnical, hydrogeological and geo-environmental projects.
Your work will span roads, rail, buildings and land development, with exposure to GIS terrain evaluation, geohazard and slope stability assessment, rock excavation, retaining structures, foundations and ground improvement.
From the outset, you’ll have opportunities to take practical responsibility for both site and office-based work. Working within multidisciplinary ground engineering teams, you’ll plan and undertake investigations, interpret geological and geotechnical information, prepare technical reports and contribute to detailed design.
You’ll also engage with clients and support construction supervision, developing broad technical and commercial experience while learning from leading specialists in the industry.

You’ll ideally hold a strong first degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering. A higher qualification in Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering or Ground Engineering would be advantageous.
Coffey provides active mentoring, ongoing technical development and support towards professional chartership through the Geological Society of London, IoMMM or ICE.
This is a varied role combining office-based engineering, site investigation and construction supervision. Projects may be located across the UK and overseas, so flexibility to travel and work on site is important.
