Graduate Electrical Engineer

Ward and Burke are actively recruiting Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our site team on water industry projects based in the Yorkshire region.

The successful candidate will carry out electrical design, prepare and manage electrical installations, fault find and commission on various projects.

This position requires an individual that is comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and happy to learn on the job. It is essential the individual possesses an excellent problem-solving skill along with organisational and communication skills. You will have ambitions to further your engineering and management skills to develop into a lead electrical engineer and manage all project electrical activities on your own. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Ward and Burke as we grow our Electrical Engineering department in the UK. 

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical installation conforming to IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations, WIMES and client engineering specifications. You will use AMTECH to design electrical installations. 
  • Attend electrical site walkarounds to understand the level of electrical install required for a particular solution, identify electrical scope of works associated and then develop the electrical design for client engineering review. 
  • Support the onsite electrical install team with design queries. You will spend time carrying out some electrical install work to gain a thorough understanding of how jobs are installed so you can better design our jobs. 
  • Liaise with panel manufacturers and software integrators to develop electrical panels required for projects. 
  • Participate in the production of Risk Assessment and Method Statements and Process Impact Plans. 
  • Developing SLD’s, Block Cable Diagrams and Loop Diagrams
  • Developing Functional Design Specifications and User Requirement Specifications. 
  • Read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and document all self-created changes.
  • dherence to Safety Health & Environmental policies and procedures and carry out all tasks in a safe and controlled manner. Thinking how do we do this job avoiding risks?
  • Witness of factory & site acceptance testing for Machine Control Centre (MCC) panels. 
  • Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales for electrical installations. 
  • Specification and procurement of major items of electrical plant – Variable Speed Drives, Blowers, Pumps etc.
  • Recommend electrical installation ideas and improvements and feedback lessons learnt into design team. 
  • Review sub-contractor electrical installations and prepare snag lists.
  • Prepare and complete Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Records (ITRs) before and during installations.
  • Cable calculations & lighting design
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, electricians and future graduates.
  • Prepare final documentation (As-Built Drawings etc.)

Essential

  • Well organised, have attention to detail, work on their own initiative and be proactive
  • Desire to learn and to develop the ability to take the lead on a project 
  • Full UK / European driving licence (Must have Car). Ability to travel to various jobs in the Yorkshire region. 
  • Keen to express own idea and ask questions. 
  • Studied Electrical / Electronic degree 

Other Information

  • Starting Salary: £35,000
  • North West Region
  • 2:2 and above
  • Working hours 7am – 6pm. 
  • EU/ British Citizen – No work permits at this time. 
  • Starting: ASAP
