"There are always interesting challenges to overcome, I’m constantly learning and evolving within my role."
I graduated from Lancaster University with an MPhys degree in Theoretical Physics in July 2021. A few months later I applied for the role of Software Engineer here at Forsberg. I was initially compelled by the software languages, tools and technology Forsberg advertised as I had experience in them with a motivation to develop my knowledge and skills further in these areas. Overall it sounded like a really interesting position with prospects to work in a broad range of market sectors and once I learned more about the company, I knew it would be a great fit for me.
I worked on an interesting alternative navigation project which used an optical navigation system using jetson nano boards and depth sensing cameras and involved software design and integration onto the devices. I’m currently working on a rebuild of some of our main software, designed to work on windows pc and tablets, it’s exciting to be part of a project that will have such a positive effect on the development of the company.
Any relevant training required to assist in my role as part of my personal development plan is provided as requested and is often self-led. My next goal is to obtain the C++ certification to take my engineering skills to the next level and assist in my progression towards more senior roles.
I enjoy that there are always interesting challenges to overcome, I’m constantly learning and evolving within my role. The most challenging has been making sure there are minimal bugs and that they are handled reliably when they, or any other issues occur, it’s really rewarding part of the job.
