About us

We’re the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group.

One extraordinary group, so many possibilities

We’re delivering one of the world’s most important environmental programmes, safely, securely and sustainably decommissioning the UK’s earliest nuclear facilities and preparing the sites for their next use.

The NDA group is responsible for nuclear sites in all parts of the UK, together with specialist waste and international transport capabilities. Our work is also growing, with more facilities joining us to be decommissioned in the next decade. It’s a long-term mission and we deliver it with care for our people, communities and the environment.

With opportunities from procurement and supply chain to radiological protection advisors, engineers to cyber security specialists and accountants to project managers, together with a strong commitment to invest in your growth, there are so many possibilities to develop your career with the NDA group graduate programme.

A mission that makes a difference

The UK is a pioneer of nuclear power, with electricity generated for homes and businesses since the 1950s. Our 17 sites are part of this legacy and include the first fleet of nuclear power stations as well as research sites, fuel-related plants and waste handling and disposal facilities.

When the sites were built, no plans were developed for how they’d be decommissioned, unlike the arrangements in place for sites today. Our staff, supply chain, academic partners and global experts are working together to develop innovative approaches and deliver our work safely, securely and cost effectively.

It’s a long-term challenge, stretching into the next century. The work we’re doing is extraordinary and, for our people, it means there are so many possibilities in a wide range of professional, technical and other disciplines.
