The role

As a Remote Operations Centre Trainee Engineer you will be responsible for providing the Remote Operations Centre with technical support to ensure operational readiness and project continuity. The ROC Trainee Engineer will monitor and integrate systems required to execute work scopes from the Remote Operations Centre (ROC).

The ROC Trainee Engineer will actively support the continuous improvement of remote operations, identifying opportunities, investigating and implementing technology, testing, and creating documentation to be incorporated into the body of knowledge.

  • Supports the setup, configuration, interfacing and testing of the full suite of ROC technologies;
  • Ensures equipment is in a state of operational readiness;
  • Carries out and records maintenance, reporting defects using appropriate fault reporting mechanisms;
  • Monitors and reports ROC specific technical performance;
  • Maintains accurate, adequate levels of stock and parts;
  • Maintains effective and appropriate communication with client representatives, Project Manager, and other onshore and offshore departments e.g., Data Services, Subject Matter
  • Experts, Innovation, Staff Development Coordinators, Human Resources, IT, and QHSSE.
  • Develops and maintains clear and concise documentation.

Remote Operations Centre roles require candidates to be Aberdeen based or willing to relocate and work rotational 12hr shifts.

  • Have a B.Sc or M.Sc or equivalent in a relevant survey, electrical or computing related discipline;
  • Have a good understanding of hydrographic survey principles;
  • Be an excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels;
  • Be able to prioritise workload to meet project deadlines;
  • Pay attention to detail, quality and safety;
  • Be disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player.
