About the role 

In this role you will develop the technical, commercial and operational skills required to become a successful Asset Manager within the Solar PV renewable energy sector.

You will take responsibility for supporting the safe, compliant and efficient management of Zestec's residential solar PV portfolio, helping to maximise asset performance and deliver value to our investors and clients.

As part of the Asset Management team, you will also play a key role in onboarding newly commissioned commercial and industrial (C&I) solar assets into operation. This includes ensuring assets are correctly established within our systems, documentation is complete, monitoring is functioning correctly and assets are ready for long-term management.

As your experience develops, you will take ownership of a small portfolio of C&I solar assets, working alongside experienced Asset Managers to monitor performance, coordinate maintenance activities, manage operational issues and support client relationships.

The role provides broad exposure to renewable energy asset management and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the sector.

The role will have three primary areas of responsibility:

Residential Portfolio Management

  • Support the management of Zestec's residential solar PV portfolio to ensure assets operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor asset performance, investigate issues and support resolution of operational and customer enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, documentation and performance reporting.

Onboarding of New C&I Assets

  • Support the transfer of newly commissioned solar assets into operation.
  • Ensure technical, commercial and operational documentation is complete and accessible.
  • Ensure assets are correctly established within Asset Management systems, including configuration of monitoring, billing and reporting platforms.
  • Work with Project Managers, contractors and software providers to resolve onboarding issues and ensure a smooth transition into operation.

Management of a Small C&I Portfolio

  • Take responsibility for a small number of commercial and industrial solar PV assets under the guidance of experienced Asset Managers.
  • Monitor performance, coordinate operational activities and support the delivery of value to clients and investors.
  • Develop an understanding of asset performance, maintenance strategies, commercial obligations and stakeholder management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Asset Management processes through automation, digitalisation and adoption of new technologies.

Success in this role means:

  • Residential solar PV assets are managed proactively, with O&M partners effectively coordinated to resolve operational, compliance, performance and contractual issues
  • New C&I assets are onboarded accurately and transitioned smoothly into Asset Management, with monitoring, billing and documentation systems established correctly
  • Clients receive professional, responsive support and have confidence in the management of their assets
  • Asset information and documentation are maintained to a consistently high standard, providing confidence in operational and commercial decision-making
  • Performance reporting is accurate, timely and trusted by stakeholders
  • Opportunities to improve, automate and scale Asset Management processes are identified and implemented
  • Strong relationships are developed with internal teams, service providers and clients
  • The successful candidate demonstrates increasing ownership of assets and develops the technical, commercial and operational skills required to progress into a fully-fledged Asset Manager

About You

  • Probably have a degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Technology or similar however we welcome all applicants regardless of educational backgrounds
  • May have existing experience in renewables or a similar industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with data and software systems
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy
  • Exposure to data analysis, reporting tools or business systems such as Power BI, MS Dynamics, APIs or data integration concepts would be advantageous
  • Right to work in UK
