Graduate Development Programme: IT Applications Engineer

Job Purpose:

As a key member of the ICT team, you'll provide support and administration to key business systems within the Window Systems Division. 

You’ll support the ICT Helpdesk function, ensuring user requests are resolved to agreed service levels and working closely with the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, Distribution and Finance teams to support daily operations.

You’ll also participate in various ICT projects, contributing to the delivery of the strategic roadmap and continuous improvement, while maintaining an awareness of cyber-security and ensuring procedures and policies are followed to minimise risk to the organisation. You’ll promote and develop the use of ICT Systems in a secure manner to generate efficiency improvements.

An ongoing development programme for the graduate will involve placements within each WSD ICT function, followed by role specific training.

WSD ICT function placements will include:

  • ICT Security & Infrastructure
  • Desktop Support
  • Business Intelligence Reporting
  • Systems Development
  • Operations Support

Role specific training will include:

  • Administering a SQL Database Infrastructure
  • Querying a SQL Database using T-SQL (depending upon existing experience)
  • Microsoft Business Central
    • Deploy and configure Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
    • Business process specific training
  • Software development (inhouse training provided)

The mid-term purpose of this role is to provide a succession pathway to the Business Systems support and development role.

Key Accountabilities:

General

  • Adherence to all organisational policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
  • Work positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.
  • Represent the organisation in a positive way as to avoid the damage of corporate image or bringing the company into disrepute.

Technical

System Administration and Solution Development for the following systems:

  • ERP Business System & Warehouse Management System
  • Time & Attendance System
  • Payroll System
  • Group VAT Reporting
  • SQL Database Infrastructure

Liaison with any third-party contractors/consultancies for any infrastructure related tasks.

Service Delivery

Support of the ICT Helpdesk function, to include:

  • Ensuring that user requests are resolved to agreed service levels.
  • Provide root cause analysis of Helpdesk requests and identify opportunities to reduce the volume of Helpdesk requests.
  • Ensure that you operate within a safe, healthy, and environmentally aware manner always.
  • Ensure potential information security risks are identified and dealt with as a priority.
  • HW/SW support for general Helpdesk calls.

Any additional tasks/projects, as requested by the ICT Team Managers or Head of ICT.

Some cross functional responsibility (and team working) with local site managers and their teams.

Performance Measures

  • Delivery of projects to support the strategy of the organisation in a timely fashion.
  • Continued maintenance of ICT Business Systems to ensure security and availability to agreed service levels.
  • Positive feedback from management and peers on job performance and teamwork.
  • Ensuring Helpdesk requests are resolved to service level agreements.
