We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Fire Engineer to join Jensen Hughes across the UK and Ireland and become part of our 2,000+ global employees working together to advance the science of safety every day.

What will you be working on?

As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you’ll work on a variety of exciting projects, helping to develop innovative fire engineering solutions for new and existing buildings.

Your work will include:

  • Carrying out fire engineering analysis on a range of new and existing building projects.
  • Working across a diverse range of buildings, including high-rise office buildings, large retail complexes and airport developments, each presenting its own unique challenges.
  • Analysing fire growth, means of escape, structural fire resistance and smoke control using a variety of methods, including computer modelling software such as Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Preparing technical reports and liaising with clients, including some of the largest building developers in the country.

Requirements and Qualifications

To set you up for success in the role, you’ll need:

  • Right to work in the UK or Ireland.
  • A Master’s degree, achieved within the last two years or expected, in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Additional qualifications and experience

The following would also help you succeed in the role:

  • A team player who can work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Enthusiasm to innovate.
  • A second European language is an advantage but not essential.

Over two years, you’ll gain experience across fire engineering and related disciplines, helping you build the knowledge and skills needed for a successful and impactful career.

You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as you progress through the programme, helping you continue to develop your technical knowledge and professional skills.
