About Us

The National Crime Agency (NCA) is the UK's lead agency against serious and organised crime - think international drug trafficking, cybercrime, child exploitation, and money laundering at the highest levels. We exist to protect the public from the criminals who pose the greatest threat to the UK, and we pursue them relentlessly.

NCA 10th Anniversary video
A decade of disrupting serious and organised crime.

With over 5,000 officers across the country, we're a large and diverse organisation. Our people collect and analyse intelligence, conduct complex investigations, use cutting-edge forensics and surveillance techniques, and collaborate with partners across the public, private and third sectors - all in service of keeping people, communities and the country safe.

Whether you're based at our London headquarters or one of our regional hubs, you'll be part of an organisation doing work that genuinely matters. No two days look the same.

Our People

Our people are our greatest asset in the fight against serious and organised crime. Every day our officers are making a difference. There's no such thing as a typical NCA officer. We come from different backgrounds and cultures, speak many languages and have diverse skills and experiences.

Our Values

  • Integrity - we do the right thing and act with courage.
  • Agility - we are flexible and innovative to stay ahead of the threat.
  • Alliance - we embrace diversity, collaborating with teams and partners.
  • Excellence - we aspire to be world class in protecting the public from serious and organised crime.
The facts
The NCA leads the national and international response to serious and organised crime, from county lines drug networks to international cybercrime syndicates.
We employ over 5,000 officers in hundreds of different roles - from intelligence analysts and digital forensics specialists to finance investigators and communications professionals.
Our work is global. We operate internationally, working with law enforcement partners across the world to disrupt criminal networks that stretch far beyond UK borders.
We're operationally independent - meaning our investigators follow the evidence, not political direction.
Serious and organised crime costs the UK economy an estimated £47 billion every year. The NCA is on the front line of tackling that threat.
Graduates join us from every degree discipline - you don't need a law or policing background to build a career fighting serious crime.
