Job Description

Engineering (Data Science) Practice 

The 2027 BNY Summer Internship Program - Engineering (Data Science) provides high-potential students with a well-rounded, rewarding internship experience with engaging Agile Projects while providing first-hand knowledge of our culture, people, business, and impact within the marketplace. 2027 BNY Summer Internship Program - Engineering (Data Science) interns will participate in a robust technical experience in JavaScript, Python, CSS, Java, and more.  

What you will do

  • Apply data science and analytical methods to solve real business and engineering problems. 
  • Analyse data, perform profiling and feature engineering, and identify patterns, trends, and anomalies. 
  • Build and automate analytical processes, models, and tools that improve decision-making and efficiency. 
  • Partner with teams across engineering and the business to turn data insights into practical recommendations.  

Skills you will build

  • Data analysis, feature engineering, and advanced analytics techniques. 
  • Programming skills across tools and languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, and related technologies. 
  • Statistical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to communicate complex results clearly. 
  • Exposure to machine learning, distributed computing, and scalable data-driven solutions.

Summer Internship Program

The BNY Summer Internship Program offers high-potential students a dynamic 10-week experience designed to accelerate development, build professional networks, and provide meaningful exposure to one of the world's leading financial services institutions. Through a skills-driven talent model, interns gain insight into the capabilities, platforms, and functions that power BNY's global franchise while contributing to impactful business initiatives.

From day one, interns are immersed in BNY's collaborative and innovative culture through:

  • Enterprise-wide onboarding and development programming, including an in person immersive induction experience, executive speaker series, skill development, and networking opportunities.
  • Meaningful project work aligned to key business practices and platforms, providing hands-on experience, skill development, and real-world business impact.

  • Exposure across practices, platforms, and teams, building a broad understanding of BNY's integrated business model.

Program eligibility:

  • Enrolment in a 3 or 4-year undergraduate degree program with a strong focus on business-related and/or technology-related majors preferred
  • Graduating in Dec 2027 or Summer 2028 
  • On track to achieve a 2.1 or higher
  • Does not require sponsorship for employment visa status (now or in the future) in the country where applying.
