Mechanical Engineering Internship

The role

Join PCC and gain valuable skills in a busy Aerospace Engineering team. You'll cover various aspects of mechanical engineering, including tooling design, production materials and routing management and continuous improvement activity, boosting your degree studies and future career prospects. 

During the placement you'll contribute to continuous improvement activities, including process improvements, tooling improvements and route card changes, support new product introduction work packages, and create/update manufacturing work instructions to achieve optimum cost and results. Your other responsibilities will include: 

  • Liaising with sub-contract tooling manufacturers to agree initial tooling and fixture concepts and final designs.
  • Participating in tool and fixture prove out trials and final commissioning.
  • Assisting other engineering resources in data analysis, problem solving initiatives, and shop floor observations.

  • Currently studying towards a Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace related degree and in penultimate or final year.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing techniques including; sheet metal fabrication, machine tools and welding.
  • Aptitude for applying analytical methods to problem solve.Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Can work on own initiative or within a project team.
  • Enthusiasm and interest for the Aerospace Industry
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite.
